In The World, Not Of It | Easter Special — He Is Risen! What the Resurrection Means for Us Today - Seedandsoulful

"He is not here; he has risen, just as he said." — Matthew 28:6

Welcome to a very special Easter edition of "In The World, Not Of It" — your weekly Christian worldview column from Seedandsoulful. Today is not just another Sunday. Today is the day that changed everything. 🙏✝️

What's Happening in the World

Easter has become one of the most commercialized holidays on the calendar — right behind Christmas. Stores fill with pastel baskets, chocolate eggs, and bunny decorations weeks in advance. Families gather for brunches and egg hunts. And for millions of people, Easter Sunday comes and goes without a single thought about an empty tomb. Culture has done what it always does — taken the most world-altering event in human history and turned it into a shopping season.

What the World Says

Culture says Easter is about spring, renewal, new beginnings, and family traditions. And while those things aren't bad, they are shadows of the real thing. The world has taken the resurrection — the most explosive, history-splitting miracle ever recorded — and reduced it to a long weekend. Some even question whether it happened at all, dismissing it as myth, legend, or wishful thinking.

What God's Word Says

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is not a metaphor. It is not a symbol. It is the cornerstone of the entire Christian faith — and the most well-attested event in ancient history:

📖 1 Corinthians 15:17"And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins." Paul was clear: the resurrection is not optional theology. It is the foundation of everything.

📖 Romans 6:4"We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." His resurrection is our resurrection. His victory is our victory.

📖 John 11:25-26"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.'" Easter isn't just about what happened 2,000 years ago — it's about what happens to everyone who believes.

📖 Isaiah 53:5"But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed." Written 700 years before the cross — and fulfilled perfectly on it.

📖 Revelation 1:18"I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades." Death has been defeated. The grave could not hold Him. And because He lives — we live.

What the Resurrection Means for Us Today

The resurrection of Jesus is not just a past event — it is a present reality with eternal implications:

  • 🔥 Your sins are forgiven. The price has been paid in full. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)
  • 🔥 Death has lost its sting. Because He rose, we will rise. The grave is not the end of your story. (1 Corinthians 15:55)
  • 🔥 You have power to live differently. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in you. (Romans 8:11)
  • 🔥 Hope is not wishful thinking — it's a Person. In a world full of bad news, the resurrection is the best news that has ever been announced.
  • 🔥 Every Sunday is a mini-Easter. The early church gathered on the first day of the week to celebrate the resurrection. Every time we worship together, we proclaim: He is risen!

A Closing Prayer

Lord Jesus — thank You for the cross. Thank You for the empty tomb. Thank You that death could not hold You, that sin could not stop You, and that love would not let You stay in the grave. On this Easter Sunday, we declare with the angels: He is not here — He has risen! May the reality of Your resurrection transform how we live every single day. In Your mighty name, Amen. 🙏✝️
