"Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." — Romans 12:2
The World Is Loud. God Is Still on the Throne.
Turn on the news for five minutes and you'll feel it — the anxiety, the division, the noise. Political battles rage on every screen. Culture wars dominate every headline. And somewhere in the middle of it all, believers are asking the same question: How do we live faithfully in a world that feels like it's unraveling?
The answer hasn't changed in 2,000 years. We are called to be in the world — present, engaged, salt and light — but not of it. Not shaped by it. Not defined by it. Not afraid of it.
What "In the World, Not of It" Actually Means
It doesn't mean retreating from culture or ignoring politics. Jesus didn't hide from the world — He walked straight into it. He ate with sinners, challenged corrupt leaders, and spoke truth to power without apology.
Being "not of the world" means our identity, values, and hope are rooted in something — Someone — that no election, no policy, and no political party can touch.
"My kingdom is not of this world." — John 18:36
When we anchor ourselves in that truth, the political noise loses its power over us. We can engage without being consumed. We can care without being controlled. We can vote, speak, and act — all while keeping our eyes fixed on the One who holds every nation in His hands.
Practical Ways to Stay Grounded
- Pray before you scroll. Ask God to guard your heart and mind before consuming news or social media.
- Filter everything through Scripture. Not through your party platform — through the Word.
- Speak truth with grace. You can be bold and kind at the same time. Jesus was.
- Remember who is actually in charge. "The king's heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will." — Proverbs 21:1
- Wear your faith out loud. Let your life — and yes, even what you wear — be a declaration that you belong to a different kingdom.
Hope That Doesn't Depend on Washington
Here's the truth that should anchor every believer right now: God's plan has never been derailed by a political outcome. Not in Egypt. Not in Babylon. Not in Rome. And not today.
America is celebrating 250 years of history this year. And through every war, every crisis, every political upheaval — the Church has endured. Because the Church doesn't belong to a party. It belongs to the King of Kings.
So wear your faith. Speak your truth. Engage with grace. And remember — you are in this world for a purpose. Just don't let it be your home.
