I Am a Living Sacrifice — And It’s Harder Than It Sounds

I Am a Living Sacrifice — And It’s Harder Than It Sounds - Seedandsoulful

Romans 12:1 — “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God — this is your true and proper worship.”

A living sacrifice.

It sounds beautiful in church. It looks good on a t-shirt. But living it out? That’s where it gets real.

Because a living sacrifice can crawl off the altar.

And most of us do — daily. We lay ourselves down in surrender, and then we take ourselves back. We say “not my will, but Yours” on Sunday, and by Tuesday we’re white-knuckling control again.

This is the testimony of our community — and maybe yours too:

The mom who surrendered her timeline for having children, and found peace she didn’t expect.

The entrepreneur who laid down the business plan that made sense on paper, and watched God open a door that didn’t.

The person who chose forgiveness when bitterness felt more justified — and found freedom on the other side.

These aren’t perfect people. They’re living sacrifices — imperfect, sometimes crawling back to the altar, but showing up again.

What does it mean to be a living sacrifice today?

It means your Monday morning belongs to God, not just your Sunday worship.

It means your spending, your scrolling, your conversations — all of it is an act of worship when surrendered.

It means you don’t have to have it all together. You just have to keep showing up.

“Holy and pleasing to God” — that’s not a standard of perfection. It’s a posture of surrender.
