God, Trump & the Times We're Living In — A Biblical Perspective on This Moment in History - Seedandsoulful

"He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding."
— Daniel 2:21

This Is Not a Normal Moment in History.

Something is shifting in America. You can feel it.

Whether you love what's happening or hate it — whether you're encouraged or unsettled — one thing is undeniable: we are living through a moment that will be written about for generations.

And as believers, we cannot afford to watch it through a purely political lens. We must see it through a biblical one.

This post is not a campaign ad. It is not a political endorsement. It is a prophetic perspective on what God might be doing in this moment — and what your assignment is while He does it.

1. God Is Still on the Throne — Full Stop

Before we talk about any president, any policy, or any political movement — we have to start here:

"The king's heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will."
— Proverbs 21:1

God is not surprised by Donald Trump's presidency. He was not surprised by the first one. He was not surprised by the Biden years. He is not scrambling to adjust His plans based on election results.

Every leader who has ever held power — from Pharaoh to Caesar to every president who has ever sat in the Oval Office — has sat there because God either ordained it or permitted it for His purposes.

That doesn't mean every leader is righteous. It means God is sovereign over all of them.

So whatever you think about Trump — and believers land in very different places on this — your peace cannot be tied to his success or failure. Your hope cannot rest on any man. Your security cannot come from any administration.

God was on the throne before January 20th. He is on the throne right now. He will be on the throne long after every political figure we know has faded from memory.

Start there. Stay there.

2. What Trump Is Actually Doing — Through a Biblical Lens

Let's be honest about what's happening — because the media won't give you a straight answer either way.

On the border: For the first time in years, there is a serious attempt to enforce immigration law and secure the southern border. Scripture is clear that nations have the right — and responsibility — to maintain order and protect their people (Romans 13:1-4). Compassion for the immigrant does not require open borders. A biblical worldview holds both truth and order together.

On tariffs and the economy: The tariff strategy is bold and disruptive — and yes, it's creating short-term pain. But the underlying goal — rebuilding American manufacturing, reducing dependence on hostile nations, and creating jobs at home — is not unbiblical. Proverbs 31 celebrates the one who works hard, plans wisely, and builds something that lasts. Whether this strategy succeeds is an economic question. Whether the intent is legitimate is a different one.

On energy: Unleashing American energy production — oil, gas, and beyond — has lowered costs and strengthened national security. Stewardship of the earth matters (Genesis 2:15), but so does the ability of families to heat their homes and fill their tanks affordably.

On faith in the public square: Perhaps most significantly — there is a president who is not ashamed to mention God, pray publicly, and surround himself with faith leaders. Is he a perfect man? Absolutely not. But neither was David. Neither was Solomon. Neither was Cyrus.

And that brings us to the most important biblical parallel of this moment.

3. The Cyrus Anointing — Supporting a Leader Without Worshipping Him

In Isaiah 45, God calls Cyrus — a pagan Persian king who did not know God — His "anointed." His instrument. The one He would use to free His people and rebuild Jerusalem.

Cyrus didn't have to be a believer to be used by God. He didn't have to be morally perfect. He didn't have to attend church or quote Scripture. God used him anyway — for His purposes, on His timeline, for His people.

Many believers see a similar dynamic at work with Trump. Not that he is a messiah. Not that he is above accountability. But that God may be using an imperfect, unconventional leader to accomplish things in this cultural and political moment that a more polished, establishment figure never could.

You can hold that view and still keep God above Trump. In fact — you must.

The moment any leader becomes your savior, your identity, or your source of hope — you've made an idol. And God will not share His glory with any man.

Support the leader. Pray for the leader. Celebrate the wins. Hold him accountable when needed.

But worship only God.

4. What the Opposition Reveals — This Is Spiritual Warfare

Here's what the purely political analysis misses: the intensity of the opposition to this moment is not just political. It is spiritual.

"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places."
— Ephesians 6:12

The rage. The lawfare. The media hysteria. The institutional resistance. The global pushback. This is not normal political opposition. Something deeper is being threatened — and the enemy knows it.

When God begins to move in a nation, the enemy moves too. When light advances, darkness pushes back. That is not a reason to be afraid. It is a reason to pray harder, stand firmer, and understand that what looks like a political battle is actually a spiritual one.

Your weapons are not political. They are spiritual.

"The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds."
— 2 Corinthians 10:4

Pray for your leaders. Pray for your nation. Pray against the spiritual forces that are working to divide, deceive, and destroy. And do not be moved by what you see in the natural — because the real battle is happening in the unseen.

5. Your Assignment in This Moment

So what do you do with all of this?

You don't doom-scroll. You don't panic. You don't put all your hope in a political outcome. And you don't check out and pretend none of it matters.

You do this:

Pray. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 commands us to pray for kings and all those in authority. Not just the ones we voted for. All of them. Pray for wisdom. Pray for protection. Pray for God's will to be done in Washington the same way it is in heaven.

Stand. Ephesians 6:13 says "having done all, stand." You don't have to fix everything. You don't have to win every argument. You just have to stand — in truth, in faith, in the Word — and not be moved.

Build. While the world is distracted by the news cycle, you have a Kingdom assignment. A business to build. A family to raise. A community to serve. A testimony to share. Don't let political chaos steal the time and energy God gave you for your purpose.

Don't be moved. "Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain." — 1 Corinthians 15:58

The times are uncertain. The headlines are loud. The future is unknown.

But God is not uncertain. God is not loud — He is still and sovereign. And God knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10).

He has not lost control of America. He has not lost control of your life. He has not lost control of this moment.

So don't get lost in the world.

Get lost in His Word.
